The locals checking out the tourists. The Ballestas Islands near Paracas.
A winery at Ica with wine fermenting in pottery amphora.
Inca storehouses at Puerta Inca, a (somewhat) protected bay that used to be an Inca port and now houses reasonably basic holiday accomodation. What I liked was that you could walk for hours along the desert coast and see no one, only the occasional ruin that could be 50 or 5000 years old.
A Nasca culture graveyard which the tomb robbers have visited. Near Nasca.
An indian woman selling slings and if that fails photo opportunities, up on the altiplano at Sillustani near lake Titicaca (which isn't the lake in the background).
Looking through a gateway on Taquile Island down at Lake Titicaca, an island I saw though a case of altitude sickness.
A rather green day at Puno harbour on Lake Titicaca.
The track leading up to Dead Womans Pass, Dead Womans Nipple is on the right.
Catering to the tourists, on the top of Dead Woman's pass on the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. The 1500m climb that morning was not trivial.
Huts used by the workers who mentain the Inca trail.
Phuyupatamarca (town above the clouds), along the Inca trail.
View of Machu Picchu (not the standard one) with Huayna Picchu rising in the back right.
View from Machu Picchu up the Urabamba valley.
On top of Huayna Picchu (the young mountain), which is the mountain behind Machu Picchu. I was sincerely hoping it doesn't decide to throw me off.
Huaraz, the capital of Ancash state, situated in the Callejón de Huaylas with the Cordillera Blanca in the background. A center for mountain climbing and trekking, sort of a Peruvian version of Pokara.
The view from the top of a pass in the Cordillera Blanca looking down the valley towards Chavin.I did a three day walk across the Cordillera Blanca, it was good but unfortunately the walk to Chavin is the least blanca trek in the Cordillera Blanca.

Chavin de la Huanta, very important Early Horizon site in Ancash state, noted for its underground tunnels.
At the top of a glacier (5000m) in the Cordillera Blanca with Cordillera Huayhuash in background, with rather wet feet because my shoes weren't really designed for climbing up glaciers.
