A market in Kuching, just after rain

Gulung Mulu Nation Park, the cave contained large numbers of bats which would have swarmed out at dusk if it hadn't been raining

A market where the locals sell souvenirs

The flat boats were the best way to get around the jungle

A swimming hole off the river, the color is the bottom, not the water

Sabah

On the way up Mt Kinabalu, the small shelters are placed every kilometer

At the 3000m level there is a lodge. You stay there and get up at 2am to climb the mountain for the dawn.

The dawn was greeted with rain and minimal visibility, it started to clear as we went down

The summit of Mr Kinabalu(4093m) about half an hour after we'd been there. Mt Kinabalu is apparently the worlds youngest granite extrusion

On the way down

Stilt houses at Sandakan

Fishing platforms on the way to Turtle island, the sea was full of them

A turtle plantation on Turtle Island

Leaving turtle island. There were armed soldiers on the island to reduce the chances of impromptu trips to the Philippines

A feeding platform for Orang Utans in the jungle at Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. The one handed monkey in the foreground kept offering to bite a chunk out of me

Not all Orang Utans were happy with the jungle feeding, this one (Natsia) decided to visit the cafeteria

A hard life being an Orang Utan

With hind sight heading off to the island under the storm cloud in a semi-open boat wasn't a good idea.
